He can pardon for anything. he pardoned Joe Arpaio.

If Trump pardons Manafort, it will be the beginning of the end of his presidency. Not only will it erode the White House's credibility, Trump could also be facing obstruction of justice charges. He might avoid conviction by the Senate, but he would lose a significant amount of his political power and influence.

Or it will be Trump pardoning a guy who should never have had his house searched without a warrant.

Not at all. You can't discover things that aren't there. Also, remember Trump can pardon either Manafort or Cohen or both, and they know that.

You do realize that if Trump pardons Manafort or Cohen, they can no longer plead the fifth under questioning, as there would be no risk. They would be compelled to testify.

Paul Manafort, whose work as a political consultant in Russia and Ukraine led to his conviction in a Virginia courtroom on Wednesday, worked more extensively in the former Soviet Union than was previously reported, a new investigation has claimed.

Trump turmoil: aftermath of Cohen and Manafort verdicts - live

According to a report published on Wednesday by the new investigative media outlet Project, Manafort and his fixer Konstantin Kilimnik were sent in 2005 to the central Asian republic of Kyrgyzstan, where the two promoted Russian interests

Manafort was taking "envelopes containing cash" from Oleg Deripaska, unsurprisingly. And an indictment released by Mueller alleges that Kilkmnik had "links to Russian intelligence".
