it's literally just one reason: the former guy and his connections with russia. he told them russia is fine and NATO is bad, and that's all they need. that's why most traditional, old school conservatives are still somewhat "reasonable" on the issue (even though most of them are also massive hypocrites who supported iraq), but the whole MAGA crowd is hardcore pootin apologists.
