I was railing against my R friends that equated the Iraq war as stoping Muslims and defending Christianity. I wanted Bush to be charged along with Cheney that was clearly compromised from his Halliburton stocks.
So several degrees less than the scrutiny. No labeling troops as orcs or calling for stopping genocide.
I don't say this to question your pro-anti war stance now or before, frankly I don't care. But it's evident that the level of scrutiny we're applying to this current situation is magnitudes less favorable to when we were doing something similar many years ago. We labeled our troops as heroes, honored them at ball games, etc. meanwhile the same man, same soldier that was sent to a foreign land to invade for a similarly shit reason just like ours is labeled an orc and is committing genocide.
Reality most wars are morally grey, there are no objectively good guys vast majority of time. Honestly very few wars in history you can say with certainty were fought between forces of good and bad. What this is, is a geopolitical conflict, and obviously on our side a certain framing of the enemy will be adopted. But it's important to have an honest take, that's if we truly care for equity in rules.
