Russia is making substational gains in the pro Russian south and south east Ukraine. They are consolidating their army to push further from south and to completely cut off Ukraine from Black Sea. The way Putin is going on about the conflict I've got the feeling Moldova is next. They don't seem to care much for Kiev, Russia just pressures Ukraine enough so most of its resources are bound in Kiew and Charkiv while they continue to encircle Black Sea access. I also think any diplomatic solution is just there for Russia to buy more time unless Selenskij capitulates. Also, daily debunking:

Russia also seems to know where legionnaires are. Every single time, they destroy bases with legionnaires from afar.

Well, that's the problem: besides economic sanctions, what exactly could we "do about it"? Military action against a country in possession of thousands of nukes and ICBMs is not really a feasible option, so trying to dry up their funding and arming their opponents with defensive weapons are about the only things we can do.

Also, the way Russia is struggling with Ukraine, a rundown shithole, doesn't suggest that they would have the power to push further west, into Poland and potentially towards Germany. Poland has about the same population size as Ukraine, a much stronger economy, a much better equipped military and hates the Russians just as much. The developments in Ukraine have made it perfectly clear that Russia wouldn't be able to win a conventional war against the EU, even if the U.S./NATO stay out.

are we really contemplating that Russia is going to invade Poland or Germany ? Do we need to discuss this ? My own view is thats not plausible noting (a) Russia does not see itself as invading, and therefore won't invade Poland and (b) Russia is not capable of beating Nato and therefore it won't invade Poland because Poland is Nato.

with the caveat being Nato can't stay out if any Nato country is attacked. the conversation of Russia invading a Nato member is just so off the wall to my mind. I am not saying this aggressively I just don't understand the mindset that would suggest this. Please give a scenario where Russia invades Poland or Germany.

OK, so this goes back to the origins of this thread, which most users in this thread disagree with me on. I would have it that America policies (in tandem with Russia's security concerns) over the last decade led to this conflict. I would expect that a bright spark in China, not being involved, would see it more clearly then those in the West, that Russia would invade. Thats why they are not sanctioning Russia, because they accept Russia's own security concerns (they have stated this already). Whether a backroom deal was made between Russia and China in the last 6 months to my mind, is irrelevant. I dont even know what kind of deal they would make, or have a need for one, they are not enemies. China is standing aside from the western narrative which would have it that Putin woke up one morning insane and decided to invade a country, unprovoked, because he is a power hungry putler that wants to take over the world.

if that makes sense ?

Do you think Putin is some how physically sick like his time is coming up. There are some people whom know that their time is coming up so they try to make a last push before they are gone forever just to try and cement their place in history.
China's Relationship hasn't been stable and I guess its only during this 10 or 15 years that they have gotten closer because of US's foreign policies...

There's very certainly traitors on both sides. Just one side deserve to extinct its leadership and join west later.

On a personal note, I do not think Russia is interested in Poland....
The invasion of Ukraine I feel is not just security, it is more of a resource reason, the Russians wanted to control more resource but please correct me if I am wrong.

In any circumstance, I do feel that even if China and Russia combine, they still cannot win the USA in a military confrontation at the moment.

To be honest from a world view, those are pathetic numbers considering Leonardo Di Caprio donated 10m USD
But in a way I can understand why the same amount every now and then, if they donate too much it will look bad with the Russians

And they probably will donate similar amount to the Russians too.
And if they donate too much to the Russians the world will say the Chinese are supporting the invasion.

no. my view is he told the west for 10 years to leave ukraine alone (because he thinks he owns it/sphere of influence/w/e expression insert here), he was ignored, this is his last ditch attempt to enforce his will before ukraine joins nato. the clock was ticking on russia, and by extension, putin. not the other way around.

i dont understand your comments re: China and US foreign policy. my view is China got to where it is today by stealing other countries technologies or innovations/ideas, not being worried by anyone or anything that gets in the way and by having a guiding hand (their current leader) to steer them. Oh, and having a long term plan thats longer then 4 years.

It's Europe that's bearing the economic brunt of this war. They are the ones doing far more trade with Russia than the U.S., they are the ones who depend on Russian gas and oil, they are the ones who will have to shoulder almost all of the costs of housing millions of Ukrainian refugees.

Well yes, Europe bears more of it, but America is bearing plenty. The situation in Europe creates shockwaves elsewhere and has delivered part 2 of the 1-2 punch combo to America's already strained supply chain and inflation issues. This is what they call kitchen table politics - things that actually matter to ordinary people. Making ends meet, keeping the lights on, keeping the kids fed.

On a later note, I guarantee you Putin is not dreaming up plans to attack Poland and especially not Germany, he might not be playing with a full deck lately but even he is not that stupid
