I wasn't aware that Sanders and his staff were part of the negotiations but that's good if he was. But it is a little unfair to compare Sanders to Biden in this scenario since Sanders is a Senator. I'm glad that Sanders is doing his job!
I'm not going to read the bill in it's entirety because that's a profound waste of time. It should surprise NO ONE that there's a lot of pro Republican legislation. That's how negotiations work! In my opinion, it's GOOD to have pork, riders, etc. because it facilitates smooth governance. When you're a principled twat, you hold up progress (this is why I fucking hate people like Rand Paul). If everyone gets a little bit of something, everyone wins.
I wouldn't call it corruption either but I suppose everyone has their own definition of that. Putting the interests of businesses, the wealthy, the few, etc. isn't corruption in my book. To me, standing up for billionaires is no different than standing up for black rights, gun rights, etc.
lol. that's stupid.
if those representatives were elected by the votes of billionaires and CEOs, that'd make sense. if, however, those few wealthy people had massively disproportional (in america's case even exclusive) influence on policy making, then it's completely different in nature than standing up for groups that not only represent a significant portion of your actual voters, your mandate, but also don't have any power outside their vote.
the reason you think that's just how negotiations are supposed to work, is because you grew up in a system where that kind of deal making, where everybody tries to put in some shit for their personal sponsors, even in times of extraordinary crisis, is the norm. just because that has BECOME the way 'smooth governance' is done in america (obviously it wasn't always so), doesn't mean you have to support and shill for it. i think you're confusing realism with fatalism. there's literally no reason to not strive for and support improvement, except you directly benefit from the broken system.
obviously it'd be stupid to read the whole thing just to prove a point we're both very well aware of, but just for a little exercise: open the document and search for "sunscreen" - and try to figure out why you're getting results.
