How easily you seem to forget that LOTS of THESE "protesters" were also, burning, looting, shooting, etc. And lately, the various States, have been turning a blind eye.
The States ignoring what's happening in their states, is endangering serious amounts of other people's safety, welfare, life's work, and even their lives. Now I don't know about YOU, but I'm happy as all get out that the FEDS have stepped in to do what the States, for whatever whacked out reasons, are refusing to do.

Fortunately, for the other > 90% of the rest of the people in this country. You know, the one's who aren't bat shyt crazy.

The Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385, original at 20 Stat. 152) signed on June 18, 1878, by President Rutherford B. Hayes, the purpose of which continues to limit the powers of the federal government in the use of federal military personnel to enforce domestic policies within the United States. The Act was passed as an amendment to an army appropriation bill following the end of Reconstruction and was updated in 1956 and 1981.

Sec. 15. From and after the passage of this act it shall not be lawful to employ any part of the Army of the United States, as a posse comitatus, or otherwise, for the purpose of executing the laws, except in such cases and under such circumstances as such employment of said force may be expressly authorized by the Constitution or by act of Congress; and no money appropriated by this act shall be used to pay any of the expenses incurred in the employment of any troops in violation of this section and any person willfully violating the provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction thereof shall be punished by fine not exceeding ten thousand dollars or imprisonment not exceeding two years or by both such fine and imprisonment[10]

10 U.S.C. § 275. Restriction on direct participation by military personnel The Secretary of Defense shall prescribe such regulations as may be necessary to ensure that any activity (including the provision of any equipment or facility or the assignment or detail of any personnel) under this chapter does not include or permit direct participation by a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps in a search, seizure, arrest, or other similar activity unless participation in such activity by such member is otherwise authorized by law.

he President may employ the armed forces ... to ... restore public order and enforce the laws of the United States when, as a result of a natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition ... the President determines that ... domestic violence has occurred to such an extent that the constituted authorities of the State or possession are incapable of maintaining public order ... or [to] suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy if such ... a condition ... so hinders the execution of the laws ... that any part or class of its people is deprived of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and secured by law ... or opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws.[12]

In the United States, the 1878 Posse Comitatus Act place limits (but does not absolutely forbid[1]:4) on the federal government in dispatching federal military personnel and federalized National Guard forces to enforce domestic policies.

There are instances of the military being called into action (such as during national emergencies caused by natural disasters or civil disorders) and efficiently saving lives and restoring order, such as the 1992 Los Angeles riots and Hurricane Katrina. On the other hand, there have also been instances where the use of military in a domestic role has gone wrong, such as the Kent State shootings.[1]:4

In the 1980s, Congress began discussing a broader military role, but Ronald Reagan's Secretary of Defense, Frank Carlucci, testified that "I remain absolutely opposed to the assignment of a law enforcement mission to the Department of Defense. I am even more firmly opposed to any relaxation of the Posse Comitatus restrictions on the use of the military to search, seize and arrest. I have discussed this matter with the President and other senior members of his Cabinet, and I can report that these views are shared throughout this Administration."[1]:4

Yeah, that's pretty. But did you actually READ this article?

Officers from the U.S. Marshals Special Operations Group and U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Border Patrol Tactical Unit have been sent to Portland to protect federal property during the protests against racism and police brutality.

This is another one of those incidents where it might help to know wtf you are talking about. For example, here is a pic of the pdf you get if you HAD taken the time to click the link in the paragraph I quoted from that NPR article.

huh? I read the article did you
"Federal forces shot an unarmed protester in the face," Merkley said in a tweet. "These shadowy forces have been escalating, not preventing, violence."

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown similarly called for federal law enforcement officers to leave Portland. She added that Wolf is on a "mission to provoke confrontation for political purposes."

"This political theater from President Trump has nothing to do with public safety," Brown said in a statement. "The president is failing to lead this nation. Now he is deploying federal officers to patrol the streets of Portland in a blatant abuse of power by the federal government."

Is this last post of yours about your claim that The Posse Comitatus Act is being violated? No it isn't. Let's try to stay on subject.

Now I see you want to talk about...

They also left one demonstrator hospitalized with skull fractures after shooting him in the face with "less lethal" munitions on Saturday, according to video and local reports.

...which I noticed you "didn't quote". And as for what Kate Brown is saying... wtf cares? She is NOT dealing with the problems in her state, as she SHOULD be doing. So the Federal Marshalls stepped in.
Maybe, she'll get the hint, that, inaction for political purposes will not be tolerated.

Trump, the FED, the WH etc., aren't doing anything for political purposes. But Oregon Governor Kate Brown, surely is.

Im stating it is a MASS over reach of Posse Act and nothing but a political ploy. There is nothing so severe going on in OR to justify.
So yes I disagree with the move to prove some sore of political point.
And yes the WH will do ANYTHING for political points.. Discuss how shower head are improved and how to sell refried beans from the Oval office.
Stop kidding yourself

This does not even remotely involve the Posse Act. I posted a huge pic of who the Federal Officers are, just above. They are NOT the US Armed Forces.

Maybe once you understand that, you can rationally discuss what is happening in Oregon.

There is literally a violent rioting mob outside the courthouse for weeks straight and the local government unable/unwilling to keep the peace. It would justify invoking the insurrection act and declaring the city of portland in a state of civil disorder and bring in the military to quell the riots. Let alone just allowing federal agents to defend federal property.

The feds dont just have the authority to arrest those attacking federal property and federal agents, they have the authority to put down a rebellious city by military force.
