what possible domestic law violations would the DOJ investigate? This is all in Ukrainian jurisdiction. And since when would democrats be okay with Trump directing his DoJ to investigate a political rival?

I believe that the FBI works with NABU in Ukraine through the embassy. If there's wrongdoing, it can be addressed accordingly. I don't see anything out of the ordinary and so far, it hasn't been on anyone else's radar at the embassy.

As for the bold, they wouldn't be but that shouldn't matter. There's a right way to do things and a wrong way. What Trump did was absolutely wrong.

Trump impeachment hearings focus on Ukraine pressure campaign in first day

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-impeachment/trump-impeachment-hearings-focus-on-ukraine-pressure-campaign-in-first-day-idUSKBN1XN1BE

While the hearing turned contentious at times - including sniping between lawmakers - the low-key testimony given by the two witnesses may have fallen short of giving the Democrats the ammunition they need to advance their argument that Trump has committed misdeeds worthy of ousting him from office.

Quote
Republican lawmakers called Taylor’s account hearsay and noted Ukraine’s president has not said he felt pressured by Trump.

Quote
Nunes accused the Democrats of conducting a “carefully orchestrated smear campaign” using “a horrifically one-sided process” and said Democrats, the media and “partisan bureaucrats” were trying to overturn the results of the 2016 election won by Trump.

He hewed to the Republican strategy of arguing Trump did nothing wrong when he asked Ukraine’s new president to investigate Biden, calling it “an impeachment process in search of a crime.

Let's hope this article gets left up a bit longer than the last one.

Add to this the money trail information brought to us courtesy of Goomshill, in posts #226 and #233, it's becoming even more obvious that this is gonna turn out to be "nothing burger 2.0".

Can someone explain to me how it is a legitimate, nay, sane situation to condemn the Dems for not having the whistle-blower on the stand, while at the exact same time asking your own employees to defy subpoenas for testifying in the exact same scenario?

Is there rational justification for this at all?

They're asking the Dems to violate the law while they are violating the law?

Seems pretty consistent to me.

Whistle-blower is just an informant, and there's no "accuser" anyway since it's an impeachment procedure.
It's completely "legal" and super justified considering your prez-clown is acting like a clunky mob.

Whistleblower said Trump engaged in quid pro quo. Trump denies this. So, whistleblower is the accuser.

He said this, then it was confirmed by top diplomats, and you know it. Now we are expecting more people publicly talking about it, confirming it even more, or better: adding new info on the top of that (like the Giuliani BackChannel...)

It's all grilled dude, exposed, and i guess the goal of pro-trump republicans is to drag the attention elsewhere. It's just OVER. QUIT.
