The one-sidedness of American mainstream media of the past years is really biting them in the ass right now. They worked real hard at destroying their reputation and credibility, so I can't really blame people when their first impulse upon seeing a unified, monolithic take on the war by the MSM is to distrust this narrative and being more open to alternative viewpoints. Fox News is trying to provide such an alternative narrative, but they're doing a bad job adding nuance to the discussion and you see lots of their segments trying to defend the indefensible.
Basically, when the MSM is presenting a unified front on an issue, they are usually, but not automatically wrong... and the war in Ukraine might be such an exception to the rule.
that's just dumb. fox news was founded with the very intent to actively push a political agenda. maybe do some basic research before posting. suggesting they are legitimate factual reporting, and merely failing on nuance, is asinine at best.
msm hasn't changed fundamentally in recent years. they have always been and remain pro establishment, generally pro (american) war, pro business, dismissive of progressive (economically & politically, not socially) / outside perspectives. what HAS changed is the perception of msm, thanks to a certain president declaring outright war on them, because his ego couldn't handle criticism. the "unfair" treatment, the unprecedented "bias" he allegedly received, was merely a predictable result of his own escalation.
nah, msm always had an establishment bias (which makes perfect sense given its nature, funding, legacy, makeup, and desire for access), is objectively terrible on some issues (especially war, issues regarding meaningful change to the status quo), but reasonably reliable on reported facts - unlike faux news, which started as an intentionally conservatively biased take on "news", and has developed into an outright propaganda network for the GQP.
it's not a surprise you're trying to make excuses for those consuming faux bs, as they are generally your political and ideological allies, but objectively there's no reason to choose that outlet, other than wanting your partisan bias confirmed. they offer basically nothing in terms of legitimate and fact-based alternative perspectives.
shilling for pootin is not providing a "legitimate alternative view" on an issue that msm has admittedly a terrible track record on (though let's not forget that faux' target audience used to be, until very recently, the core supporters of american imperialism, interventionism, and militarism - supporting the party most aligned and connected with the "defence" industry) - it's simply rejecting whatever seems to be the common sense take on any issue, just for the sake of opposing it. let's not make excuses for people too stupid, too ignorant, too caught up in partisan bullshittery, that they are not even able to be on the right side of the issue when a murdering dictator repeatedly invades his democratic neighbours, kills thousands of innocent civilians, displaces millions, and pushes the whole world to the brink of annihilation...
