Yes they are normal, but first of all they are poor, because their government is crap and corrupt.
And because they are poor, there are many people who are willing to go to war and kill people, to improve their standard of life.
Second of all, they are under terrible national propaganda, saying that west are nazist and other bullshit like this.
Also they believe that it is Russia right to attack and occupy any country.
Otherwise they are pretty normal people that you can go to a party with or play games or talk about music etc.
