Just to be clear, other users are giving you a response here and i do not agree with all of them. just stating this for the record.
i.e. the comments above from ownyaah are quite removed from my view "The main reason American troops aren´t fighting directly is because China would intervene" <-- THIS IS NOT MY VIEW.
the main reason american troops aren't fighting directly is because we're in a NO WAR phase. same happened after Vietnam. we do war, it goes poorly, and not POTUS dares to enter us into a new war physically for a few decades until the anti-war sentiments die down enough for them to drag us back into another shit storm. post ww1, post ww2, post vietnam, post iraq1, post iraq2-afghanistan. all the same.
the Korean war exemplifies this, we simply didnt have enough will to fight properly in a post ww2 era. and thats an era where we had won the previous war resoundingly. still we tossed men into the wood chipper to only secure half of a country that was rural farmers just to kick off the cold war.
unless there is a nuke detonnated, and even if there is one, i highly doubt any president from Biden to Desantis to Trump would intervene. at that point you just draw a big circle around russia and say anyone who trades with them doesnt trade with us until their leaders crawl before an international court with a gallows behind it.
