It's hard to be certain though. We know they attempted to access voting systems, but nobody has bothered afaik to actually audit the systems and see if anything occured.

It can be, our administration has basically said it's not worth going to war with someone threatening our democracy, which I agree, it's not a reason to go to war anytime soon but our administration isn't doing nearly enough to stop it because everything is political now and Trump needs all the help he can get for the G.O.P. to retain the house.

Ideally, if Russia were a democracy (which they aren't), we could do the same exact type of disinformation/hacking campaign against them but that wouldn't work because Putin doesn't have any realistic opponents, so it's a tricky situation. we can't appropriately retaliate because it wouldn't work over there lol.

the difference is though we (at least not that I'm aware of) don't topple democracies, just other dictators/fascists. Russia is trying to topple a democracy/divide and isolate the West. They're not exactly comparable actions IMO.
