that "promise" is but a rumour. some people say it was made, others disagree. not that it ever justifies invading a country and murdering its citizens to begin with - especially since ukraine wasn't even in a position to join NATO any time soon, in case you already "forgot", kremlin bot.

here's what an actual treaty looks like: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian%E2%80%93Ukrainian_Friendship_Treaty

"[...] recognition of the inviolability of existing borders, and respect for territorial integrity [...]"

Not a rumour

show us all the paper/treaty or literally anything that was agreed to on. we'll wait.

I can show you one treaty where US fuck the Taiwanese and Chinese at the same time though.

I am not saying what the US did is wrong. It was just pragmatic at that point of time.

And I wouldn't be surprised if there is gentlemen promise from " some of the US administration " not to move East towards Russia.
Just saying.

Here is the treaty.

Actually no, that is the point of a mutual defence treaty
smh

For the same reasons NATO won't directly attack Russia, Russia or any military alliance won't attack. Nuclear deterrent.
The UK sent 1/3 of its active tank supply (a joke in its own right) to Ukraine; because the have NATO backing.

You're completely dishonest.

THIS is how the Western world reacts when tiny Solomon Island negotiates a security deal with China https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/apr/20/the-deal-that-shocked-the-world-inside-the-china-solomons-security-pact

NOTE THE BOLDED (quote from article)

Quote
If the rumours proved to be true, it would be the first known bilateral security agreement between China and a country in the Pacific, a region that has become the centre of a geopolitical and strategic tug of war between China and the US and Australia in recent years. And if Australia’s gravest fears were realised, such an agreement could also allow China to establish a military baseless than 2,000km from its eastern border.

That's 2000 km from Australia, lol. Now imagine a military alliance taking over countries in EU, one after the other JUST LIKE NATO DOES.

Clowns

Peak dishonesty. Anyone surprised that Russia doesn't want anything to do with the West anymore?

BTW you two should check out my previous post. LOL

My personal opinion.
I think the Biden Government made a rather retarded mistake of pulling out from Afghanistan and triggering the Ukraine War, of course with Victoria Nuland and Co.,

They could have just followed Trump's administration of building back and stabilize relationship with Putin.
If that happens. this will follow.

1. Putin will not open up central Asia for China's BRI
2. There will still be some forces in Afghanistan to prevent and cock block China's entrance into Afghanistan to build in roads to connect to Pakistan and Iran for their belt and Road project.
3. Revive Obama's TPP which will create a FTA group of countries that includes Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, India, Philippines , South Korea and contain the Chinese by the Sea Route and straits of Malacca.

But of course, you decided to go all in with Ukraine and Russia .

If the above plans out as it is , this will stifle China's emergence for at least another 20 to 30 years so the US can do some house cleaning instead of spending that amount of money on Ukraine and reinvigorate their Global position.

where is the "dishonesty"? you might not understand the difference between "were led to believe" (by a former US secretary of state, decades ago - not a promise or even a treaty by NATO leadership) and a treaty, but those are not the same. russia has signed countless ACTUAL treaties and has officially acknowledged ukrainian borders repeatedly - and then broken those treaties and ACTUAL promises repeatedly, killing thousands of innocent people in order to annex foreign territory. you'd have to be incredibly stupid, dishonest, or just a kremlin bot not to understand the difference.

concerning the whataboutism in your previous post: i take it NATO has since invaded the solomon islands militarily for you to have an actual "argument"? oh wait, that never happened. thanks for proving my point, bot. xD

The US and Australia sent representatives to the Solomon islands? I mean it seems reasonable, it is what reasonable countries do; In your mind, is that responsive the same as Russians invasion of Ukraine?
Why is Russia fine about Finland joining NATO? Fins could have a late breakfast, set off and be in St. Petersburg by lunchtime.

Since when does NATO "take over" countries. That is the key difference here. You ask to join NATO; Russia is forcibly occupying another countries territory.
How are those things the same in your mind? If after all you are not bias in any way towards Russia.

This is some of the lowest level logic in this entire 900 page thread.

The West's gravest fears: A tiny Island group negotiating a security agreement with China while at the same time claiming Russia has no point whatsoever when complaining about ongoing NATO expansion for decades
