She's about the last person in the world who would ordinarily try to force their party into such a dangerous pandering move. But she just did. Its a marked change from 2008, where Barack Obama was presented as a competent and charismatic politician who took the nation's notice with his oratory- and for whom it was unclear whether his blackness would wind up a boon or handicap, a risky move by those who wanted to elect the first black president but weren't sure it was time yet. Then we had 2012 where Hillary Clinton was dug into the establishment of DC like a bloated tick but happened to be a woman so she relentlessly hammered away at social justice messaging opportunistically, which wasn't a winning formula. She wasn't running to be the first female president, she was running to be the president she always wanted to be and her vagina was just a means to an end. Now come 2020, Joe Biden fended off the SJWs in the primaries but the VP chase has completely inverted and taken on the air of an RPG's character creation screen, with democrats trying to figure out the minority labels they want and then find the person to match it, they don't even care who it is. Maybe they'll try to refine it further and find a black transwoman drag queen in a wheelchair
