China announced plans to unveil a peace proposal for the war in Ukraine on Saturday, but many world leaders approached the plan with caution as the country still refuses to directly condemn Russia.
Speaking at the Munich Security Conference in Germany, China's foreign affairs chief Wang Yi told the conference that while China was "not directly concerned in the conflict, but was not standing idly by."
so uh, is this how the war could actually end?
status quo borders would be the likely result. Russia keeps the DPR/LPR/Crimea, the EU gets to have a bunch of impoverished nazis in bombed out rubble, China gets to claim the role of peacemaker
Joe Biden could decide to try to jointly take credit and stand down NATO, or America could reject this peace plan like they have the previous ones without China and try to keep the war going and escalating
as far as how serious China will take this role: Xi Jinping is expected to give a speech on the 24th calling for the peace deal, so its right up to the top, no longer delegating to yi
