Most men, regardless of training, are completely unequipped to handle that sort of situation, and police officers only so because they're armed with lethal and non-lethal weapons and trained in their use. Police don't confront these men hand to hand because it's incredibly dangerous.
If we're saying that social workers are expected to confront 280 lb behemoths swinging a pipe (Ghot's meme), then I think we're setting them up for failure, irrespective of their gender.
Of course not one on one dude. Youd have multiple people there to handle the situation.
Knowing what you need to handle a situation is part of training.
And if they pose an immediate threat to bystanders thats where police have a place. His meme ignores that those are an exceedingly small proportion of mental health calls as evidenced by the wild success of places that have social workers respond to mental health emergencies.
