Teachers aren't special. They're people with jobs. If you have the option to work from home and avoid all the hassle of commuting, while also gaining the power to tell people what they can and cannot do in their own house (see case of child with BB gun in own home) why would you want anything different?
All the benefits, all the pay, less personal work and cost, greater authority. Lockdowns are a teacher's dream. Economics and math are also sciences. "My economic situation will approve due to same pay for less time spent at lower costs if lockdowns continue." The Teachers Unions are looking out for their own best interest, legitimately.
Forget that they're public servants, and the funding is for the children, that's inconsequential, because nobody believes that. There's not one idealistic person left who thinks anybody gives two flying shits about kids, minorities, or anything else. Sure, plenty will lie and tell you they do and everyone else doesn't while attempting to grab control over funding or other people. But don't kid yourself on this.
