Putin said he will take 2 areas if ukraine surrenders. He said he's open for negotiations. Zelensky and his wife said they will never negotiate anything with him and that decision was encouraged by Boris Johnson.
Ukraine for sure doesn't want war, that's something we can all agree on.
But saying West doesnt want this war while USA is making money on it hand over fist is borderline moronic.
so if mexico says it wants the south-west of the US back (after all, it used to be mexican territory and many ethnic mexicans live there), but it will "only" take texas and new mexico - then not agreeing to their conditions and fighting back is unreasonable and means you don't value peace? just give them what they ask for, right? you know what happens next? they will take arizona and california. but hey, you'll just give those up as well, because you want to prevent war, correct? solid logic right there...
no. crimea and donbas are ukrainian. that's just a fact. russia has NO rightful claim to those regions. the soviet union is history. russia agreed to ukraine's borders - like the rest of the world. just like germany doesn't have any claims to east prussia, alsace-lorraine, or sudetenland, russia doesn't have legitimate claims to georgian, ukrainian, moldovan, or any other country's territory.
if it worked like you suggested, pootin would have taken abkhazia first, then south ossetia, then the rest of georgia, then crimea, then donbas, then ukraine's black sea coast, then transnistria, then the rest of moldova... and so forth.
pootin could have peace at ANY point he chose, and everybody knows that. russia wouldn't lose a single square inch of its territory. all they have to do is leave. it's really that simple.
he doesn't want peace though, he wants territory - and he certainly won't stop if you just give him what he asks for - crimea has clearly demonstrated that. almost nothing happened to russia after they invaded and annexed it - so he came back for more...
