well, walking into someone's office and 'asking' for a debate is quite a bold and offensive move. the verb "force" that I used might be overselling it a bit, but "asking" is just as much underselling it.
like... think of customer services in shops. if someone could have called but instead decides to show up in person anyway, this usually means that they are 1. pissed and 2. trying to force things.
or think of specialist doctors - if someone tries to get an appointment, but gets shot down and then shows up in the doctor's office anyway, without an appointment, they are doing what? exactly, they are trying to force things.
