The United States occupied Japan, did that stop them from nuking Hiroshima?

.

Zero similarity to what's happening in Ukraine.
Its purpose was to secure Kadena Air Base for air operations during Operation Downfall. Usa never had the intention to annex and control Japan.

Sorry, they FLEW away, with afghans clinging to their landing gear.

Who could have foreseen nation building in Afghanistan turning out so poorly?

Ran away carries the connotation that we were defeated on the field of battle. This didn't happen. We were beaten politically.

I don't advocate nation building.

You're the problem lol not us. Also pay your debt now scammers

French armies are good, successful fighting men when they aren't led by French men. Washington, Eisenhower, Napoleon, Jean de Arc, etc.

just another day then.

I see zelensky thanked Boris (again) for intervening last year and telling Ukraine not to negotiate with Russia.
I also listened to a pod cast where it was intimated that the US, if sending tanks, was sending them with outdated armor so as not to potentially give enemies new tech.
And I listed to another pod cast where the military leadership of the US was being categorical that they did not want to be in Ukraine, and view 2023 ukrainian position as bleak.
And on another vein i listed to a pod cast where the relationship (positive) between russia and china (no common interests) was described as relating to historic border disputes, reduced over the last 2 decades from 8000+ to 7 1/2. pretty sure someone could draw some parrallels there, if they wanted to.

Zelenskys speech today was brilliant, way to shaft it

Everyone gets Russias perspective.
We just don't agree that in order for Russia to feel safe, Ukraine should be destroyed, not exist as a sovereign country and hundreds of thousands needlessly die.

Claiming ignorance is pretty cheap.
The same people claiming Russia has been provoked choose to ignore Ukraine's perspective constantly.
It would be convenient for them that 40 million Ukrainians either die, flee or get assimilated into one, if not the most oppressive systems on the planet.
Shout out to North Koreas leadership for probably edging the title of most oppressive arseholes.

Cool, so now you know why the free world has no other choice than helping Ukraine till victory.

No, one doesn't follow the other.

Negative consequence of the use of such weapons would certainly outweigh any military benefits considering the low density of fighters / the size of Ukraine.
This would cement Putin as the aggressor and blacklist Russia's economy to incredible levels. It would make Russia a permanent pariah country (till Putin is out).
In the same way than the "scraps of paper", this would give no other choice than to continue to help Ukraine, Double, triple the assistance: up to trigger a super massive conventional response from NATO.

It all depends of Putin & Russia nuclear agression scale here. I know that french nuclear submarines are in alert mode and ready to glass it eventually. UK & US are more than certainly the same.

Putin has already been cemented as the aggressor. Russia's economy is already blacklisted. China and to a lesser extent, India's response is the only thing which matters.

Seymour Hersh is a Russian agent provocateur and disinformation propagandist. He will be prosecuted in absentia for complicity in war crimes after he's been forced to flee to Russia like his fellow traitor Edward Snowden already has. The United States Intelligence Community has already assured us that this story is 100% utterly false, just another in a string of disinfo agitprop like the previous Hunter Biden laptop and DNC emails. This is just more reason for why we need to establish an internet monitoring agency to quash the spread of Russian propaganda like this and prevent it from being posted and punish those responsible, like yourself.

That is more respectable then, we could get into the weeds about what conflicts you served in but I don't see that going anywhere really.

Regarding Russia/Ukraine, do you think Ron and Rand Paul are mistaken in their views? I'm assuming you would have heard them.

You were implying that Afghanistan being an abject failure means that supporting Ukraine was a mistake, or a doomed effort.

Thanks, but to be honest, I'm not really in the mood to listen to a 28 minute long Putin speech. Since you apparently listened to the full speech and remember it well, could you give me a quick tldr? Doesn't have to be high effort, just some quick bullet points.

Yes, please! :) It's always valuable to get different perspectives since no one is immune to his own biases, particularly when it comes to such a contentious issue.

Crimea is clearly a red line for Russia. I think the most interesting and relevant question is how they'd react if Ukraine was threatening to take back the land bridge between the Russia-controlled parts of the Donbass and Crimea. At the moment, Ukraine can of course be glad if they're able to hold off the Russian offensive in the Donbass. But if they succeed with that and are able to mount a counteroffensive in the summer, the region around Melitopol and Berdiansk seems like the obvious weak spot of the Russian line.

Shit I was drunk last night.
