if someone it talking about a topic and you bring up another (even related) topic instead of arguing their topic, that's whataboutism.

if i say "trump is a pedo" and you say "what about biden sniffing kids hair and taking showers with his daughter", guess what these are comparable topics, but it's whataboutism.

My understanding is that most of the Jan. 6th insurrectionists got light sentences, and there were plenty of race rioters in 2020 who got punished. Touting the worst amount of jail time as if it represents the hundreds of insurrectionists who were sentenced is misleading. I know that's how the cult operates, but this isn't a Fox News forum bruh.

It's also silly to equivocate racial riots with an effort to overthrow the United States government. Trump attempted a self-coup, he drew his supporters to DC to do it, and then directed them to the US Capitol. Doing violence in favor of overthrowing the US government is more serious than doing it in a race riot. This is not a controversial opinion, or at least it wasn't before Trump tried to overturn democracy.
