But this whole derailing of the topic was in response to Ghot's shitty meme with the cops laughing at the "social worker" trying to restrain the huge, tweaked out guy, when there are already trained women (and smaller men) who do this regularly. Nurses, social workers, care providers, etc. What makes that meme even shittier is that the cops are the ones who needed 3-4 people to restrain one person, because they didn't have the training that they should have.
That is very different from confronting a ~230+ lb armed man in a street fight. Most men, regardless of training, are completely unequipped to handle that sort of situation, and police officers only so because they're armed with lethal and non-lethal weapons and trained in their use. Police don't confront these men hand to hand because it's incredibly dangerous.
If we're saying that social workers are expected to confront 280 lb behemoths swinging a pipe (Ghot's meme), then I think we're setting them up for failure, irrespective of their gender.
