I understand the point your making, and to an extent I agree. But I think your missing my point. Democracy is not exactly Ukraine's priority right now; Making comparisons to the US is crazy.
When is the US getting invaded by a larger neighbor that threatens its existence?
Zelensky is democratically elected, and I'd be certain alot of Ukrainians would approve his leadership. He's the first leader that said no to fleeing the country, and put his own life on the line for Ukraine.
Do I agree with using the war to consolidate power? Obviously not. But talking about Zelensky becoming a dictator is like a fart in the wind. Especially when the poster child of dictatorships Vladimir Putin is invading Ukraine currently.
