I disagree, this poisoning is totally relevant and shows what was happening if you were going against Moscow's will.
Russia's influence toward urkaine can be defined as "malign influence": Kompromat, funding myriads of opposition parties (like startups...), along with physical threats. FSB/Mafiosi methods at national levels.

To be honest i also posted about Russia being an agressor also because of the whole historical oppression background which could start during the reign of Catherine the Great (r. 1762–1796) where serfdom degenerated into slavery and spread to Ukraine. I posted about it in previous pages, if you are insterest I am sure google be your friend...
