Do you think drafting Americans to go to war after the attack on Pearl Harbor was unjustified?
A country getting directly attacked by a foreign military is the textbook example for what a draft is made for. If there's any scenario in which we can expect able-bodied fighting-age men to defend their country, it has to be a literal invasion like the one Ukraine is currently experiencing. Also, aren't you usually among those arguing that the West has become weak and "pussified" and that we need more nationalism/patriotism?
Lol no, you're conflating a few things I believe. I believe in economic nationalism as in doing what's best for my country and the people that live here. For example, taking the course of action where I can secure much needed natural resources like gas and oil for cheaper rather than have outside forces lead me into a situation where my people will have to pay 4x-5x the usual cost for many years to come --that type of nationalism. As far as patriotism, no lol I'm literally the opposite. As an isolationist anti-war person I think patriotism most of the time is a propaganda tool to trick dumb fucks to get behind wars that really have no benefit for the average person at home. Kind of like Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, etc were.
On a fundamental level though, I believe in human rights and a persons right to self-determination. When a human is being dragged into a rape van by a bunch of cameoed people, after committing no crime or wrong doing there is fundamentally something wrong with that picture. Maybe because you come from a background that brought the world the Gestapo and Stasi, so this picture is not shocking and you consider okay idk, but personally I find it kind of disturbing.
