The only things you post here are Putin-bad, you're against negotiations and you cheer every escalation and there have been many.

You bring absolutely NOTHING to the table when it comes to solutions / ending the conflict. Absolutely NOTHING

Putins and associated mafiosos can't be trusted, illegal interference... Since decade(s). Today the incredible war crimes are even a further proof of untrust-worthy.
Following Putin the Puta: "Things were all right..." Because they had puppets in charge in Ukraine. Then the people started to vote for someone else, guess what ? To join the free world.

Unfortunately the only solution is to help Ukraine until Russia fall. Because it is impossible to negotiate with Russia.
We should have done it before Russia start to invade it btw. (You bring absolutely NOTHING to the table, only blablabla... )

we all know you don't care about dead ukrainian kids, pootin bootlicker. no need to bring up countless times debunked kremlin propaganda about russia's little green men in donbas being "innocent ukrainian civilians just minding their own business and being shelled for fun"...

See, people like you are the problem.

You think NATO can fuck around without consequences without taking into account Russia, it's leadership and way they're going to react.

i thought we established that russian leadership can determine what RUSSIA does, not what UKRAINE does. see how it says "russian", not "ukrainian"? are you new to the concept of sovereign nations?
does "brazilian leadership" have to ask the portuguese who they are allowed to ally with? of course not, that's preposterous. pootin himself acknowledged that it's up to the UKRAINIAN people to determine their future.

people like you, still acting like russia has some kind of legitimate claim over ukraine, are the real problem. you also fail to understand that it was NOT nato asking ukraine to pwease pwease join them, but ukraine asking to become a nato member. i wonder why they wanted that... oh right...

Dude... Russian forces remained in Eastern Germany up to 1994...

Okay, I was too imprecise. What I meant is the following: since the formation of East Germany in the wake of WW2, the Russian forces in Eastern Germany had acted as a hostile occupying force. Russian tanks had violently quelled the East German Uprising in 1953, the insurgency in Hungary in 1956 and the Prague Spring in 1968. According to the Brezhnev Doctrine about the "limited sovereignty of socialist countries", there was always the threat that Soviet tanks would again thwart any attempts at overthrowing the socialist ruling party.

Gorbachev had moved away from this principle and been giving hints hints that the Brezhnev Doctrine no longer applied for years, but the leaders and the peoples of the satellites didn't trust him yet. Then, at a meeting of the Warsaw Pact members in Bucharest on 7th July 1989, the end of the Brezhnev Doctrine was made official. The closing statement formally revoked it and established a principle of (Soviet) non-interference. It basically told the leaders of the satellites "you're on your own, the Soviet union will not come to your aid". Since this moment, the Soviet army stationed in Eastern Germany had a stand down order and effectively was no longer an occupying force, no longer the guarantor power of socialist rule. In this sense, they were not "ready to roll". The Russian tanks were basically just standing around, waiting for the inevitable to happen.

The events of 1989/90 proved that the socialist regimes had no backing with the people of the Eastern bloc and immediately collapsed as soon as the threat of Russian tanks waltzing in was gone.

-------

Sorry for the little history excursion, but I think this historical background is very relevant to understanding the current events. The Russian invasion of Ukraine is essentially a reversion to the doctrine of Russia's neighbors having "limited sovereignty" and enforcing this by sending the tanks.

Interesting dynamics with the Germany Leopards forming. Germany wont send Leopards unless the US sends Abrams. You just feel that the Germans are reluctant participants in this all throughout the conflict. This to me is the biggest 'ask' by the allies to force Germany to be a more active participant in this conflict. Germany is looking to the US and is wondering why tf should we contribute more than the US when it was the US that at least in part is responsible for triggering this war. With each passing month we're getting closer to WW3. I wish Germany would take on more of a leadership position in Europe and push for some peace settlement rather than give in to pro-war demands.

Seems US leaders and foreign policy will stay true to their course despite dropping support for Ukraine war aid among US constituents across the board and our FED literally melting money printing presses (debt ceiling jacked up again). God help US. Literal sunk cost fallacy playing out in a war scenario.

If China or Iran get involved it could spin wildly out of control. Im hoping one side just gives up soon.

Thats a shame. Germany has some leverage with its exports too.

This

Most people that post here completely overlook that a solution is needed and it has to be a solution that suits both waring parties or we can forget about it.

Those users are just stuck in their Putin-bad circle jerk unwilling to even consider negotiations SMH

Peace talks only make sense and can only lead to tangible results when the involved parties are willing to negotiate in good faith. Russia clearly isn't doing that right now, they're not looking for a true compromise, they're looking for what would amount to Ukraine's surrender, to a dictated peace on Russia's terms.

And just to be clear: Ukraine isn't ready for good faith negotiations yet either. They think that they can reconquer parts of their country; or at the very least they're trying to grind the Russians down some more to improve their military position before trying to find a diplomatic solution.

Gorbachev became so popular in the West that they called him Gorby. This had everything to do with Glasnost / Perestroika and that he was a reasonable man ready to negotiate. Emphasis on the underlined.

If Gorbachev had wanted he could've smashed any opposition (in the form of protests), that's out of the question. Even though the USSR was in a bad shape economically, which is true.

As a German, I can fully understand why our government isn't willing to send some of our own Leopard tanks unless the U.S. shows the same kind of commitment. Blocking our allies from sending their Leos to Ukraine is pathetic and a coward move though. If the Poles or Finnish want to send battle tanks from their arsenal, I see no reason why the German government should get in the way.

Striving for a peace settlement is only promising when Putin can no longer be confident in a victory on the battlefield. The stronger Ukraine's military is, the higher the likelihood that the Russians will genuinely come to the negotating table.
