Your analogy is beyond invalid - dressing nicely enough for guests has nothing to do with going along with someone's delusion.
Wrong, manners was precisely my point.

Adapting behaviour to a situation is not bad in general, right. Except here you are using a euphemism "situation" instead of saying what it is, a delusion.
Putting aside whether wearing a mask while being sick has any effect.
Manners go a long way. It may seem a delusion to you, but it may not to others. Certain situations (wearing a mask while being sick for example) is harmless and require little effort. I believe slightly modifying my behavior with the aim of ensuring respect is worth it in this case. Who knows what idea I may hold which may seem ridiculous/delusional to other people. Yet I would expect to be treated with the same level of respect regardless of whether they deem it as such. We can then have a civil discussion on whether the ideas I hold are delusional. But I think that is the basis of a civil society - it starts with manners. Respect.
Now I don't believe you should go way out of your way to be respectful - that's why I ask if for this effortless instance, it was outrageous to slightly modify your behaviour?
