Russian ex-President Medvedev says Japanese PM should disembowel himself. (HARA KIRI: ritual suicide by disembowelment with a sword, formerly practiced in Japan by samurai as an honorable alternative to disgrace or execution.)
He was responding to a meeting on Friday between Kishida and U.S. President Joe Biden, after which the two leaders issued a joint statement saying: "We state unequivocally that any use of a nuclear weapon by Russia in Ukraine would be an act of hostility against humanity and unjustifiable in any way."

Btw these days i have great readings on H bomb, not easy when you try to push it into the details, even if some docs have been unclassified.
It's fascinating especially when these bombs can be used no to kill but to generate EMP (may still kill many people since it destroys all electronic equipment).

Actually, it's funny how Japanese sided with those who nuclear bombed them and now are condemning a nuclear threat together.

its not even that. Russia realistically is going to at some point have serious problems dealing with Ukraine, especially if the west continues to support Ukraine as appears likely. The court of western public opinion is setting the groundwork if russia cry's foul / throws its toys. Russia is well and truly screwed.

That's what I mean when I say that every country / side needs to rally their citizens behind their cause. All countries do that and therefor all countries use propaganda / smear tactics to discredit the opposing side.

The big question is how Russia is going to react if they're reaching that point (truly screwed).

If they would really care about people's opinion they wouldn't do meaningless polls that nobody cares about but offer a real opportunity to people to express their voices

you know like inSweiss, an horrible country that remained neutral about the war and oftenly conducts referendums to ask its population's opinion on key subjects, unlike our good people's democracies

Not at all funny or unexpected.
Modern day japan and the Japanese empire are not even remotely similar.
Also Japanese people are the most qualified to condemn nuclear threats, having been the only nation to suffer a nuclear attack.

Ok then Kissinger. That makes sense if you over simplify the situation.

The actually story is that the former president of Russia has completely lost his mind.
Though it does appear like intentional posturing. Maybe to make Vlad seem more rational by comparison.
Something akin to Nixon and the Madman theory.

Russia is already having serious problems dealing with Ukraine and military support is steadily increasing.

The question is to what extent the Russian federation will implode and how it will play out.

Disagree, the court of public opinion has been against nuclear war since the first ones were dropped, or not long after, and it was cemented during the cold war.

In the most favorable light I'd call it a generic diplomatic statement of support for the west, in a less favorable light it just seems like low brow but effective propaganda.

The propaganda angle would be that it implies Russia is intending to do so, and the only thing stopping them is the international community "standing up" against such brutality. Whether or not you agree with it I think it's fair to say it paints Russia in a certain light.
