Reports are bad, whole battalions gone in a rush, British trained 'elites' wrecked. Corpses littered everywhere. Some saying total net troop loss from that area since start of war near 20k-25k (think those are RU provided numbers).

Maybe new strategy is scorched earth, blitz, trench, repeat.

commenting on current events in the war is never safe.

Take those reports with a grain of salt.

There's also been several reports of HIMARS launchers being destroyed but you can find sources that explain that decoy HIMARS are being used in areas where HIMARS is being deployed.

Russian high command thinks they destroyed a HIMARS launcher while most likely they targeted a decoy.

PS these are the most difficult targets to destroy, during the first Gulf war a huge effort was made by the coalition to destroy Iraq's mobile SCUD launchers and it failed (despite having air superiority and flying thousands of sorties).

What strikes me is the sheer amount of impact craters from artillery. Whatever the outcome, Ukraine will be severely diminished as an agricultural powerhouse.

Could also be a complete lie from russian authorities, without decoys, like the 600 ukrainian soldiers killed in Kramatorsk during a "retaliation operation"

The area is extremely small, just concentrated fires. Mines are a much bigger problem.
