This new footage doesn't actually undo the horrific footage we had already seen. Those on the far right who are now taking a victory lap, basically going "see, nothing bad happened at all on that day" or "Ashli Babbit did nothing wrong", are just as delusional as the clowns going "American democracy survived by a hairbreadth that day".

This new footage basically confirms what was my take all along: yes, Jan 6 was an attack on the US Capitol, yes, some but not all participants were violent and/or had antidemocratic intentions, yes, the whole thing was a fucking disgrace - but it was far from a serious or coordinated coup attempt. The political left, in tandem with their allies in the MSM, blew both the violence ("5 officers were killed") and the actual threat to American democracy way out of proportion, so that they could craft a politically convenient narrative which served them well in the midterms and potentially beyond.
