No, they weren't. Regarding people being arrested, they were excessively violating the law, but nobody gave a fck untill they got reported by so called "patriots" and yes, they are many, first-timers pay an administrative fine.
Regarding me getting annoyed; no, not really. The only thing that annoys me is that usually Russia and USSR are perceived as the same country while other countries within the Union and it's block satellites were opressed by Russians exclusively. To me it's like saying that EU is the 4th Reich dominated by Germany dictating it's iron will stepping on the throats of lesser countries with USA banging the Reich upside the head with black and rainbow dildo in rotation.

Western education (at least in Canada and the US) doesn't talk about post soviet Russia at all really but I think the general view is that Russia is what is left of the USSR and the other countries are viewed as the ones who "escaped" it.

Hope the war hasn't affected you too much, hopefully it ends soon and with the least amount of fighting possible.

Some of organizations were already banned while others were literally asking for a ban but the law is out and there's no comeback, so there will be more censorship even when the war ends.
