this is normal and in line with various atrocities in africa that the west simply does not care to do anything about as it/they are not perceived to be a negative to western interests. I am not taking sides i am merely outlining why its not a main news event in western media. to put that into context, the main news is more likely to be the death of the queen of englands dog then the bombing of some building in africa (or eastern ukraine).

They are two provinces of eastern Ukraine, bordering Russia, populated and controlled by ethnic Russians who are pro-Russia. The population of these provinces are separatists, they want to separate from Ukraine and have their own independent republics.

They're like Texas, think they can secede, etc.
