Imagine if instead of spending like 400m $ on ads and celeb endorsements Mike Bloomberg just donated all of the money to fix the Flynt Water crisis and let Twitter do all of his advertisement for him. Then spend the extra 100m$ he'd save over ads to just pay bail for like 20k people and give them a decent lawyer.

Is this in reference to something specific about bloomberg or some specific event I'm unaware of?

Afaik, there are still remnants of Southern Democrats in states like Mississippi or Alabama - politicians who by all accounts are "Republicans" but started their political career decades ago as Democrats, and kept this party affiliation (as well as being reelected by their local voters).
Iirc, the Alabama state legislature was controlled by Democrats until 2010 (sic). Those Democrats were of course VERY different from the ones in Obama's national party.

A compelling article. Also David French tweeted this a few days ago:

1) Bernie cannot bring socialism. He cannot rule by decree. None of his big plans will happen.

2) But that doesn't mean he's harmless. His presidency would be bad for America.

Our parties are failing to produce fit candidates. Do not endorse their failures with your vote.

“You can resolve to live your life with integrity. Let your credo be this: Let the lie come into the world, let it even triumph. But not through me.”

-Alexander Solzhenitsyn

There's something to be said about refusing to participate in this madness. I may just write Mitt Romney in.

If it's anyone but Bernie I'll write in Yang. Just not ok with a socialist being president. Would rather have a corrupt asshole in office than an honest socialist.
