Countries like Poland, Germany, France and such have a much more well-equipped military than Ukraine. Even just on a country vs country basis, I doubt that Russia could successfully invade them. Particularly once we factor in that these places are much further away from Russia than Ukraine, so that the logistics become a real headache. If Russia is barely able to beat a country like Ukraine into submission, and barely able to sustain its supply lines some 100km outside of its own territory, I see no way they could win a (conventional) war in Poland or Germany against cutting edge Western military technology.
This is all true, they really are a shadow of their former self, added to that I think an actual invasion of Poland and especially Germany, unlike with Ukraine, would get universal American public support for a direct intervention.
Won't stop them from continuing to milk Putin as the Saturday morning cartoon villain that they desperately need.
