Ahh, I see you have chosen God ordering mass killings and wondering how that is good. Let's view some scriptures on this.
1 Samuel 15:2-3: Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘I have noted what Amalek did to Israel din opposing them on the way when they came up out of Egypt. Now go and strike Amalek and devote to destruction all that they have. Do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’
Deuteronomy 2:34: And we captured all his cities at that time and devoted to destruction every city, men, women, and children. We left no survivors.
Deuteronomy 3:6: And we devoted them to destruction, as we did to Sihon the king of Heshbon, devoting to destruction every city, men, women, and children.
Deuteronomy 20:16-18: But in the cities of these peoples that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance, you shall save alive nothing that breathes, but you shall devote them to complete destruction, the Hittites and the Amorites, the Canaanites and the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, as the Lord your God has commanded, that they may not teach you to do according to all their abominable practices that they have done for their gods, and so you sin against the Lord your God.
The short answer here is God is bringing judgement to these people and he is bringing judgement through his people the Israelite's. God also says that the Israelite's are to devote them to complete destruction so that they do not teach them to do all of their abominable practices that they have done for their gods, and so they sin against the Lord your God. Do you see it? It was Judgement Day for them. One day it will be Judgement Day for us.
