Bloomberg is a pandora's box of hot garbage. Democrats are resorting to picking a racist Republican to be the leader now? This is the guy who changed the rules so he could have a third term as Mayor. While Republicans had nightmares of Obama staying after his second, and Democrats have them with a Trump second/third term. Bloomberg actually pulled it off as Mayor O.o

Yes, I agree. There's a real risk for Bloomberg that he alienates progressives because the optics/rhetoric/soundbites he produces are too conservative, while he also alienates conservatives by policies which are too liberal for their taste, for example on gun rights and climate change.

That's just not possible in a country which is deeply divided on just about any issue between two blocs of roughly equal size. And the policy views are so diametrically opposed on a lot of hot-button issues that meaningful compromise is impossible, so partisan gridlock is the only possible outcome.

Agreed. Sad times for the US.

would be hilarious if Bernie bags almost all delegates in CA with jsut 32% of the vote because the rest of the field is so incredibly fractured that every single one of them fails to pass the 15% elibigility threshold.

That seems incredibly unlikely since the 15% threshold applies to congressional districts as well. There will be several districts in CA where Bernie doesn't hit the 15% mark.

That's why I (intentionally!) wrote "almost all" instead of "all". If the other candidates stay below the eligibility threshold, they would get no statewide delegates at all, and they would logically stay below the treshold in a lot of districts, potentially even most of them.

But I think MOST delegates are at the district level. Less than 20% are statewide I think. You have to remember that CA is a VERY diverse state. People in San Francisco are very different than Los Angeles, San Diego, and Fresno. Do you really think the Vietnamese are going to vote for Sanders? That's several congressional districts right there.

EDIT:

Of the 415 delegates, only 90 are statewide. So over 20%, but still quite a small number. But you're right that 90 delegates is a hell of a lot better than 40!

Is gonna be Sherrod Brown 2024 guys. It's gonna be trump's White House until then.

I think of trump was weaker there would be a lot of different candidates running.

Afaik, the 54 pledged delegates will also be allocated based on statewide results, for a total of 144 statewide delegates.
