You keep bringing up these fictitious scenarios that don't really occur in America. Sure, maybe in Somalia, but not here. The fact of the matter is that policing isn't a particularly dangerous line of work compared to other professions. If the police are THAT scared about dying, then they should probably get a different job. Maybe a janitor? Oh wait, that job has a 6x higher death rate than police officers so that's WAY more dangerous.

Lol policing isn't a dangerous job? You could easily google how many cops have been injured in the last 2 weeks.

Where are you getting these stats from?

Here's one from January of last year.

I'm pretty sure the department of labor collects statistics on injuries and whatnot in various lines of work.

"The figures come from the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ annual National Census Of Fatal Occupational Injuries report. The report shows that certain occupations carry a much higher risk of dying on the job than others."

Just because you compare policing to crab fishermen or loggers which have high rates of fatality doesn't mean they have safe jobs. It's almost like comparing the most dangerous jobs to any other jobs will make the latter seem not dangerous.

Ok, here's a great All - American example...

You're a cop, you're sitting in your car on the side of the road and someone comes by doing 50 in a 35mph zone. You turn on your lights and chase the speeder, pull him over and then have to go up to the car.

THINK about that car for a second. It's probably got all kinds of things all over the place inside the car. You stand to the rear of the driver's side window and tap on the glass, and say open the windows please.
The driver rolls down the window. The driver "looks" OK, and "seems" compliant. Little do you know he has a couple 100K of drugs in the car.

Because you're an experienced officer, you take everything slow, and keep in mind that anything could happen in a heartbeat.
The guy you just pulled over, in this scenario, knows he's going down for 20 years or so. He also happens to have a gun somewhere in the car or on his person.

Now me, I'm not the world's fastest person, but when I'm scared or looking at 20 years in jail, let me tell you... I would be able to move pretty fast.
Take one of your smaller lighter guns. Time yourself. How long did it take you to aim at a target 2-3 feet away and pull the trigger? One second, or maybe two if you're having a bad day?

ANY time a cop arrests someone, they HAVE to assume something like that can happen. If they don't... they won't be a cop very long.

I really wish I could post that video of the kids lighting the cop on fire in the Mexico, peaceful protest. There were young adults all around. No one was being especially rowdy.
One kid squirted lighter fluid all over the cops back and the other threw a match. Took maybe 2 seconds to happen.

I'm sure you could google that and watch for yourself.

These police officers that you are pretty much saying aren't well trained, etc. Have to deal with possibilities like this, every time they arrest or even approach... anyone.

I never said they were safe jobs...I said that if being a cop is too dangerous for you, then you should find another job.

Let me get this straight. You think a trafficker is going to kill a cop after his license plate, make/model of vehicle, etc. has been recorded? Hell, why would a trafficker even be going 15+ mph over the speed limit? If the trafficker is THAT reckless, they aren't going to stop and be pulled over to begin with...

Could you at least come up with scenarios that make some fucking sense at least?

PaRD has, for the last few days, made me very hopeful for the future. Everybody except the dumbest right-wingers (Ghot, Goom, Void, EndlessCry) have been on one side and everybody who is within throwing distance of moderate has been on the other on basically every issue. Hell, even disembodied head, the most boring right-wing shotposter, has been on the same side.

Okay and I agree with this sentiment about PaRD, but I cannot let you trash disembodied head like that. He is one of my favorite posters.

Wow! That's almost like saying: "If you don't like it in the US, maybe you should just leave". :D

/e Who was it that said that before and had to put up with 30-40 BS responses? Oh yeah, it was that guy Ghot.

Oh, so you abhor thinking for yourself?

Or, if what I'm thinking doesn't fit with the "group" I should just leave?

See post #1848.

I'm not making any comparisons. You asked where the numbers were coming from, I did a quick search and provided where the numbers come from.
