Putin had bad intelligence, he actually believed they would take Ukraine in a matter of days or weeks. That they would install their own government in Kiev. That the Russians would be welcomed as liberators.
That is what happens when you remove anyone with the balls to criticize or disagree with you.

They were close to holding the airfield north west of Kiev, and almost had the city surrounded. In the end the Ukrainians were prepared and ready for such an attack. The Russians failed to accomplish their goal.
100% they believed this war would over already.

An estimated 100K - 120K Ukrainian soldiers are dead. That means we can add another 300K wounded and maimed soldiers. (Not counting the civilians that died).

Ukraine cannot sustain these kind of losses. Why do you think Zelensky is talking about a new peace plan?
