You cannot compare those. There was nothing there that Russia called an existential threat (Ukraine being taken over by NATO is what they call an existential threat)
This conflict is like a powder keg. We're talking about an insanely large country that possesses 6K nukes and a bunch of imbeciles think they're going to "destroy" it with a bunch of sanctions and a bunch of Ukrainians that must do the fighting.
