Sounds like 2 Russian airbases preparing for another illegal -war crime brave missile strikes on civilians during winter- have been attacked by Ukraine as "pre-emptive" strikes.
Details of the two Russian military airbases hit by explosions

deepest attack so far into Russia and against key military facilities used in the Kremlin’s war.

I guess our local PARD pro Putin fascists & related "anti-all trolls" supporters will not appreciate.

Wrong, a bunch of sanctions were put in place right away and I'm quite sure the US was involved in Ukraine even before that happened.

e: I've posted this countless times. This is 2008 NATO Bucharest summit https://www.nato.int/docu/update/2008/04-april/e0403h.html

The sanctions put in place after the Russian annexation of Crimea in 2014 were super soft. Trade volumes with Russia still continued to go up, energy trade continued to grow, the construction of Nord Stream 2 went ahead, etc.

During the 2006-2008 timeframe, Russian officials once said that they wouldn't mind an Ukrainian NATO membership. Which was obviously a lie, but they put it out there at the time.

They've been messing with Ukraine for decades.

EU as well. Want me to google when they started warming up Ukraine with trade agreements / paying their outstanding gas bills?

Oh no, how dare they suggest trade agreements with a sovereign nation; how dare they pay the outstanding bills of the country that's supposed to be kept in debt servitude to Russia?

Moving the goalposts now? You went from nothing happened to ok there were sanctions. And they weren't super soft btw

Secondly the Ukrainians stole Russian gas on a large scale and didn't pay their bills. Google Russia/Ukraine gas disputes, I've posted them many times already <_<

And yes the NATO summit BS and trade agreements sent a very clear message. It's obvious that you've got zero feel for international politics, lol

Soviet made Ukrainian modified drone Tu-143, to be precise. Which shows two things: 1. Shitty anti-air multipled by negligence (you can literally see nuclear bombers on Google maps). Shortage or ban (to use against targets on Russian terrytory) of NATO made drones in Ukraine.

It is also much more convenient to use old soviet shit drone instead of NATO one. Especially when going that deep in russian territory for the first time.
Even if it's perfectly justified since the bombers were about attack ukrainian cities again. Such a bunch of barbaric morons.

Russia is a pretty big place, it is impossible to cover all of it. But AD should've been placed and active at airport, which will now probably. Also solution is easier than you think, in Syria planes would get harassed by drones all the time, then they built hangars and it was solved.

Satellite images show material damage is almost zero, runway is intact. 2 planes are lightly damaged and will be repaired. Only real loses are the 4 who died when the fuel-storage exploded.

All things considered, more of a PR move than anything else.

I mean I absolutely stand against big Nuclear countries bullying smaller ones.
There is a country that is so weak and defenseless that have been sanctioned for the past 62 years by a much bigger superpower.
And that tiny poor country have pretty much zero threat.

Cuba / Nepal ? I mean every bully will step on someone smaller if they can get away with it.

Also a headline "Russia-Ukraine war live: Russia claims Ukraine shelling Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant and says there is ‘no prospect for peace talks". I cant tell anymore what is happening around that nuclear power plant but the entire narrative on peace talks is pretty pathetic by this point. There were key points duing this conflict that peace could have been actively pursed but pretty evident now that the mental positions are entrenched and a serious change in circumstances is now required for peace to be considered.
