When multiple foreign powers are supplying the side of the civil war that wants to join those powers, you're damn skippy it's a defensive invasion.

Russia is bombing civilians and civilians vital infrastructures in winter because it failed its agression due massive internal corruption. And probably a lack of motivation.
Russia is openly doing war crimes in front of the world and it's not the first time, may add Chechnya & Georgia in the past years.

This time is just bigger and worse: they inflict pain to civilians because losing on the military. Astounding.

And we have "people", here, who try hard to justify that... With despicable tactics (switching from one to another when cornered):

- Whataboutism
- Stretched/false equivalence
- Deprecated historical references (ie: 150 years ago).
- Anti-all & anti-intellectualism (flirting with conspiracy theories)
- Plain and simple false information

Neither side has moral high ground, as both have done their fair share of morally questionable things.

Not that any of this matters, morals don't drive politics. As long as you, him, and anyone else keeps talking about morals, you will be propaganda mouth-pieces and not see the bigger picture.

People die in war. It sucks that innocent civilians have to suffer for the egos of the rich and powerful. But there has never been a war where civilians didn't suffer. That argument is irrelevant.

The argument is certainly relevant when you remove most of the responsibility for these atrocities with a blanket statement that "they’re just defending themselves".

Not when you factor in that every Russian escalation has been a direct response to NATO interference.
