Yeah, I'm from the Canada so watching all this progress is incredibly depressing. Western people have been so sheltered from the real world for so long most can't conceive of a world where their countries aren't running things globally.
The thing is when you are comfortable for too long, you tend to procrastinate. A society needs to improve , if the leaders and government of a country doesn't try to help improve the lives of the citizens and guide them into a more advance civilization, you will have problem.
The sad thing is, if you look at some Western countries. Every time they have a problem, they don't look at themselves, they point fingers at others. In a way , they have to do this because they need votes and they want to stay in power as it is lucrative for them.
Long term , they will self destruct, instead of solving domestic problems they just blame someone else.
This is not new. If you do a bit of research , just look at Japan. Japan was a good example. Look at her progress and her economy, how she almost became the No.1 Economical power in the 70s and 80s and What happened.
Japan was lucky that the internet wasn't invented yet.
