Russian trolls get paid something like 25cents for every post they make. You make 80 posts on your daily shift, you get paid 20 bucks.
It might seem not much for an American citizen, but in countries like Russia its above average salary.

You could get way more than 80 in a day, does Russia also have people who check the effectiveness of their trolling? Seems like a logistical nightmare to check their work.

I dont know man, seems more likely to me that there are people on the planet who don't agree with you than a vast Russian conspiracy to influence every forum across the internet.

Russia economy is having troubles, because countries dont want to trade with them, for example they have problems building Rockets because they cant buy parts. Also many Russians left the country. Also their economy is mobilized for war.
On the same time, although they cant buy things, they still have some spare $$ that they get from selling resources.
Of course crime companies are just like normal companies, they have various checks in place. You only need to check like 5% work to find out which of the trolls is doing good job, and which one is underperforming.
Also its not really only about forums.
People bring their ideas from outside, from Twitter, from Facebook, from Trump speeches.
So someone could get their fake news outside and bring it here.
