Ukraine was a candidate to be a candidate into eu and nato.
It looks like Russian attack was a punishment for Ukraine for trying to stick and trade with the west.
West obviously doesnt like it. Imagine a country that tries to get into Russia, and nato attacks them to prevent that.
If we didnt sanction Russia, they would have won against Ukraine and attack again another country in some years.
Just as nazi A. H. did after given Austria, Czechia and Poland. We must learn from past mistakes, appeasement doesnt really work, its also terribly unfair.
Next time it will be not a nato/eu candidate, but a nato/eu full member.
Mr Putin already says that nato in Europe is illegal, it sounds like a preparation and looking for excuse for attack. Do you want ww3 or what?

Would you call nato barbaric for doing that in Libya and Serbia? Or US barbaric for doing it in Iraq?

Looks like the Ukrainian GRID is becoming unstable, it has taken serious damage over the last months. I am still surprised Russians haven't hit bridges yet.

Putin won't attack a NATO country. His army just got meat grinded invading the poorest nation in Europe. There are levels to this.

While I agree, this is a disingenuous way of framing it. Ukraine had seen this attack coming and preparing for it for 8 years.

While I understand your point, I would argue that Russia has been planning for this equally as long, if not longer. Russia's potential in capital, resource and manpower was far and above Ukraine.
The reason they haven't accomplished their initial goals is not from lack of resource, but their own ineptitude and corruption.

I've seen attention grabbing headlines about NATO potentially running out of arms to send to Ukraine. What's actually happening is that NATO armies are more focused on advanced technology. Supplying artillery shells is alike to retrofitting for the US or UK army.
If NATO applied even 10% of its capabilities in Ukraine, Moscow would be renamed Zelenskyburg by the end of the month.

Poorest nation, but a very brave one. And a very honorable one.
They could run away, but they didnt do it. They decided to stay and defend. Im not sure that western Europeans would do the same.
Remember how western people gave up rather quickly in ww2 and had to be saved by USA?
And its not really expensive clothes or iphones or beatiful houses or luxury cars fighting the war.
Ukraine has close to 1million soldiers, to contrast Germany has 62 thousand.
Also Putin wont really attack all NATO. He will attack the eastern members, and will tell the western to stay out.
What will the peaceful western people do?
I'm afraid they will behave the same way as in 1939: run away.
Only Americans and UK and eastern European have some real balls on NATO. Unfortunately Putin has some impact on USA elections.
Germany/France are too peaceful to fight, they will look for excuse to give up.
