agreed, and id say that being asked nicely “please dont use brutality with such reckless abandon when interacting with the public” is hardly disrespectful

My friend got punched in the face for asking why he was being pulled over.

With at least $55 million in estimated damage and far more to come, Minneapolis will need state and federal aid as it attempts to rebuild hundreds of structures after the riots following George Floyd’s death, Mayor Jacob Frey said.

City officials are still putting together a complete tally of the destruction and cautioned that estimates are likely to rise significantly. Gov. Tim Walz and members of Minnesota’s congressional delegation are trying to get government assistance to offset that cost. But in the past, neither the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) nor Congress has consistently sent federal funding to cities ravaged by riots.

This is the same Mayor and Governor that wouldn't call in the National Guard until after three - four days of burning and looting. Even after the Fed told them to make the call.
NOW... they're asking for federal aid. Sheesh !!

This reminds me of Ex Parte Merryman
A judge is actually ordering police to stop using force to protect themselves against rioters, by arguing that the rioters are actually peaceful protesters and no force is warranted.
So when riot cops are out there and are getting bottles, fireworks and bricks thrown at them and rioters start overrunning their lines and gunshots are heart, will they obey the judge's injunction and let the rioters tear them apart?
Or will they disobey a judicial order?

I would just state workplace health and safety and stay home.

One week from now: Judge's house is getting robbed, he calls police... laughing ensues.

/e I bet the crooks are lining up to rob that judge's house. They're pretty much guaranteed that no police will show up.

yea if I were the police chief I'd either tell my cops to stay home and let rioters do whatever they want, or just arrange all their shifts to be held in front of the house of the judge who made the ruling
what else can they do? no way they can do their job and obey the order

The cops should just ignore the ruling.

They'll win the appeal.
