The more I've discussed with him, the more I am convinced he is an extremist by the way rather than a patriot who is over-whelmed by emotion. Nobody can possibly be this deranged.

I understand pro-Ukrainians that say something like:

We are taking a "calculated risk" that we think might pay off. Arguing that China/Russia/etc won't expand any further(economically, sphere of influence etc), and events to come won't lead to multipolarity. Maybe in that scenario it would be beneficial to fight it out for a while, and have a stronger position tilted towards EU after negotiating from a strong point than was previously possible.

Or other arguements that are balanced. Not this fking marvel-universe shit these State TV-level of propaganda they are peddling, such as Russians having inferior genetics and Ukrainians being the "good"-by gods grace. Disregarding the situation that they are in, not acknowledging that west is using them, like this is some sort of crusade vs evil. You can acknowledge that and still support the cause, that is perfectly reasonable. But to disregard it, is ridiculous.
