But we're multiple layers of retconning the situation deep, now. If Europe had a strong enough state to do these things, it would have been due to resisting the neoliberal trend that mostly favours Washington and thus perhaps they wouldn't be in this war in the first place, making the whole thing moot.

Europe played the game wrong and now it is going to be turned into one big Portugal.


France has a string of semi-colonies (to varying degrees) which are forced to use their currencies etc but their influence is slowly diminishing. Mali, burkina faso are most recent ones (to russian sphere), and a more gradual diminishment of power overall due to the chinese investing massively in africa.

Yeah, the scariest thing for neocolonial powers is their victims having an alternative option.

To bring this back on topic, the inability to accept a nominally independent country taking an alternative, fairer deal is precisely what kicked off the Maidan coup.

Yes , if we still use this forum by 2029 there will be a thread called

China / Taiwan

But that is the expected date, I will think it will be around 2031.

Earlier, IMO. I very much doubt they think they have 9 more years to arrest China's development in key areas.
