+ In Finland's case NATO is direct violation of peace treaty between Russia. That treaty was made after our small country just couldn't hold back big USSR even with help of Germany. In that treaty are some specific rules Finland has followed to this date to maintain neutrality and hopefully continues to.
Oh yeah and "we" were with AXIS back then and good pals of Hitler for a moment at least. Until they got mad because Finland made peace treaty with Russia and that led to War of Lapland and Germans burned Lapland down while they fled. I still hold small grudge when I enter Lidl market. ;)

Sometimes, for terrorists, there is no other way than weapons, bombs and soldier. This is the language Putin understands and speaks.
Ukraine decided to be neutral, not join NATO, and to accept russia guarantees.
They did what Russia wanted, stayed out of NATO, and get Russia guarantees.
Now Russia says: we changed our mind, we dont want free Ukrainę on the map any konger.
Have they joined NATO, Russia wouldnt invade them.
Because they arent powerful enough, they even cannot take Ukraine quickly, lol.
As Simple as that.
Finland has their russian guarantees, until Putin says: ohh these politics in Finland are communists, they are bad to their people, and they are also nazi too, we must save the finnish people and perform the peaceful special operation there.
You guys have the last chance to join NATO now, when Putin is still busy in Ukraine.
