Lockdowns get endless press in Western media, but for long periods of this pandemic life in China has been basically normal. In all of 2021, only two people died in China from COVID-19 and you could go to the restaurant and, rather infamously, a water park rave at the same time that America was seeing it's first real hospital-crushing waves in early summer 2020.

That said Chinese people are also starting to get sick of Dynamic Zero (Zero Covid is a term no one in China uses), which is why we are starting to see the very beginning of it's altering to something more long-term.
