Of course Taiwan isn't happy about American efforts to relocate its chip production to US soil. The world's reliance on Taiwanese chip manufacturing capacities, coupled with Taiwan's strategically exposed location, make it the big achilles heel of the West if there ever is a war, militarily or economically, with China. Without its foundries, there would be no more reason for the West to defend the island against Chinese aggression at great cost. The Taiwanese fear, for good reason, that we will let China have it once we no longer rely on them.

In recent days Russian soldiers flee across the Dnipro in fishing boats.
