ima be a bit honest with you for a second, ukraine had 2 options:
1. Write neutrality into constitution, recognize Donbass as independent
2. War begins. Win/lose what we will see.
When the war ends, we will know if Ukraine made the right choice. So far option 1 looks better than 2. This is something you can always go back to, and look if the decisions of the leadership were correct or not.
Ukraine was willing to officially give up Crimea/Nato aspirations long time ago, now everything has changed because Russia overplayed its card lost 55% of initial ground it took, its burnt out. Majority who had absolutely no savings before the war began are suffering now, constant need to provide scapegoats to the blood thirsty masses Propaganda machine created over the failures to overcome Ukraine and return it into the folds of "Empire". At the moment the ball is in Ukrainian court, but the conflict is far from over.
There will be enough of hot phases to change the dynamic completely of course. But settling for Putins demands now will only re-ignite the conflict in near future. Too early
